Huws Gray gains FSC Certification

FSC Certification protects forests Help to protect the world's forests: buy certified sustainable timber from Huws Gray. We now have Forest Stewardship Council chain of custody certification. It means you can trace the source of our machined softwood products back to their origins in SCA's Swedish pine and spruce forests. SCA received FSC forest management certification a decade ago, and has been ranked the second most ethical corporation in the world.

What is FSC?

The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent international organisation formed in 1992. It established a world-wide system to assess the sustainable management of forest resources, and to track timber from these forests right through to you, the customer. The FSC system also protects the rights of indigenous forest peoples and communities, fulfilling the economic, environmental and social elements that comprise true sustainability.

FSC certified forests are independently verified as 'well managed'. Each stage along the production and distribution chain must gain a 'chain of custody' certificate. This ensures that a certified wood product comes from timber that was sustainably harvested.

Huws Gray's chain of custody certificate covers all our branches. You can track the timber & wood products covered by our certificate using the certificate number and FSC's searchable database online a www.fsc-info.org Many different types of products now carry the FSC label: look out for them in the high street and in the business world.
