Preparation of the roof deck
Ensure the surface is free from debris, dirt and dust and is in good condition. Correct preparation is essential to ensure both successful application of the EPDM flat roofing system and long-term performance. (see additional resources below for full preparation guide).
Application of the membrane
When the EPDM membrane is laid over the surface area, allow the membrane to rest for around 30 minutes to allow packing creases to dissipate.
Apply the membrane from the centre of the roof, working out towards the perimeter edges.
Fold the EPDM back to expose around half of the roof substrate.
Use a 9” roller to apply water-based bonding adhesive to the substrate (timber only).
Roll the membrane into the adhesive and remove trapped air or wrinkles by smoothing with a soft bristle broom.
Apply trim as necessary to create a fully watertight, professional finish.
