Plywood

Plywood

Plywood is a material manufactured from thin layers or plies of wood veneer that are glued together with adjacent layers having their wood grain rotated up to 90 degrees to one another. Plywood comes in several grades and characteristics, Grade A Plywood is sanded smooth and paintable, Grade B Plywood has a solid surface for repairs due to its tight knots, Grade C Plywood, and Grade D. The use of different original timber varieties makes various types of plywood suitable for different purposes.

Structural plywood is primarily used for shuttering, boarding and packaging, but can also be suitable for general-purpose building projects. Softwood Structural Plywood is plywood that has a face and back veneer of softwood as opposed to a hardwood such as Birch, Maple, and Oak. Softwood plywood panels are comprised of a core made from either softwood then faced and backed with a veneer of softwood and are therefore used for structural applications. Hardwood plywood is suitable for external and internal use, as it’s durable, strong, and hard-wearing. It can be treated, stained, or painted. It is also less likely to warp due to laminated layers. Marine grade plywood, also known as marine plywood, is made with a waterproof binder. A great choice in areas where moisture, humidity, and water will be present like a bathroom or kitchen.
