Treated Carcassing Timber
Treated timber carcassing can be essential to the structural integrity of a project and is, therefore, very important to choose the correct timber-treated carcassing. Carcassing is the phrase that refers to timbers processed for use in structural applications such as roof battens, treated timber floor joists, and studwork for partitional walls. Timber carcassing is commonly marked as C24 timber and C16 timber grades, the difference between these two is that C16 timber strength is strong enough for applications such as wall plates, studwork, and joists, comparable to C24 timber that is a higher, premium timber, handling higher loads and wider spans. C24 timber grading is imported from areas where the climate allows a steady growth rate which creates a tighter grain to the timber. If C16 or C24 timber spans are cut they lose there strength grading. If cut as a cross-section and will need re-grading before use. If you cannot see a grade stamp, do not use it for the applications described.
Carcassing means, structurally graded softwood, treated, and kiln-dried timber. Its main use can be found in the construction of floor joists, roof joists, and timber framing projects, for both internal and external applications. Pressure-treated timber is protected from rot, decay, fungal growth, and insect attacks, making it especially durable for outside projects where timber can be exposed to moisture and the elements. Pressure-treated timber has extensive longevity over other types of timber and is a great economical choice. Treated timber carcassing is a great choice for external timber projects such as garden decking structural work, pergolas, and other garden furniture, fences, or fence posts.
Carcassing treated timbers are those which are used in structural applications such as roof joists or floor joists, framing studwork, and wall partitions. We stock various sizes, lengths, and strengths of treated timber, including C24 treated carcassing timber and C16 timber sizes. We stock an extensive range of competitively priced, high-quality treated timber carcassings, supplied by leading manufacturers. For your other projects, we have a comprehensive range of timber available, such as CLS studwork timber, untreated timber and premium grade PSE.
