Looking for something rustic? Reclaimed railway sleepers can last a few decades without being treated however, to help nourish and protect the timber from decay, we recommend applying a wood preservative. To preserve the railway sleepers further, we advise treating the garden sleepers with exterior wood oil or decking oil, ideally twice a year, Spring and Autumn are preferable for best application. This will help to repel water and prevent water ingress which is the main cause of wood rot and damage.
